Concerts
Overview
Instruments in the collection are used in concerts throughout the year.
Concerts are held in the original Music Room of the house, design by Sir Reginald Blomfield 1903.
During the mid-summer break in the concert programmer, August, the Music Room is displayed as a Composer Museum.

Craig Sheppard – piano
Craig Sheppard inaugurates the new acquisition of the Steinway Model ‘O’ owned by the Speyer family with a programme of French music.
Philadelphia-born Craig Sheppard was educated at the Curtis Institute and the Juilliard School. Following his 1972 Silver Medal in the Leeds Competition, he lived in the UK for twenty years, playing with all the major orchestras under such conductors as Solti, Pritchard, Mackerras, and Andrew Davis, as well as Bach and Brahms cycles at the Wigmore. Since 1993, he has been Professor of Piano and Head of Keyboard Studies at the School of Music of the University of Washington in Seattle, and in recent years has traveled to China, Japan, Korea, Chile, Australia and New Zealand for concerts and masterclasses. His discography is extensive, including the Debussy Preludes and Etudes, Shostakovich Preludes and Fugues, and Bach’s The Art of Fugue.

Please note that tickets cannot be exchanged nor money refunded.
Tickets to recitals and concerts do not include free admittance to the house.
We reserve the right to refuse admission and change the programme and/or instrument without notice.
It may not always be possible to admit latecomers to the Music Room.
Stiletto heels should not be worn.
