Guildhall Cantata Ensemble returns to Hatchlands with this programme of French baroque music for voices, recorders, harp, theorbo and harpsichord contrasting motets by François Couperin with Charpentier’s entertaining eponymous mini-opera Les Plaisirs de Versailles. The characters of Music, Pleasure, Gambling and Chocolate vie for importance at the court of Louis XIV.
